Yes, shaving cream adds moisture to the face and allows you to shave easier. That would depend if you are using an electric razor or not. If you are not using an electric razor it is a good idea to use some sort of shaving cream. The biggest reason for this is to cut down on the friction between face and blade.
From a womens point of view. I would prefer to add a thin layer of shaving cream just for the moisturizer thats in it so you don't get all those red irritation bumps on your face.
I would say so from personal experience,when you apply cream or gel its easier opposed to shaving dry.
